Four great digital marketing case studies that are inspiring us in 2021

2020 was tough. But it also blessed us with some incredibly brilliant campaigns. We take a look at some of these that will inspire us as we go into 2021.

  • STATE BICYCLE CO | Social Media

Using their weekly photo challenge, State Bicycle Co. rewarded followers with the best snap on a given theme (e.g. the winner of the “most beat-up bike” theme landed got a brand new ride). Since 2013 State Bicycle Co. has grown its followers from 4,500 to 480,000. Today State Bicycle Co. attributes $500,000 in annual sales to coupon codes and traffic from Facebook.

We are especially inspired by the weekly photo challenge. It’s a brilliant way to build a community around your product as a brand.

  • DISNEY | Social Media

Disney extended a wonderful idea; for every photo of Mickey Mouse ears with the hashtag #ShareYourEars uploaded to Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram, Disney promised to donate $5 to Make A Wish Foundation. The campaign was a huge success and Disney ended up donating $2 million while generating a ton of brand visibility and equity.

  • DUNKIN DONUTS | Text Message

The company started a new textual content messaging promotion closer to young adults in the Boston area. They used text message marketing to drive in-store redemption of $0.99 small hot latte mobile coupons in the month of October. The SMS offer was sent to 7,500 targeted opt-ins. Boston radio DJ’s invited participation; “text in to DD-123” each Thursday morning. 17% of individuals showed the text message promotion to their friends. 35% of the individuals viewed themselves greater in all likelihood to purchase lattes and espresso from Dunkin’ Donuts.

4. ANHEUSER-BUSCH | Social Media

Anheuser-Busch pulled off one of the most brilliant marketing strategies of 2021. The company pivoted from brewing beer to manufacturing hand sanitizer during the Coronavirus pandemic, winning for itself earned media from publications like Fox, LA Daily News, and the New York Post.

With this little coup, Anheuser-Busch’s gained the respect of customers that a huge advertising budget could never have gotten them.
